Ben Chance is the General Manager of Identity and Payments Risk, the fraud fighting foundation of Early Warning. In this role, he leads the team that drives industry innovation and delivers scale solutions for the U.S. banking ecosystem.
Identity and Payments Risk solutions have been at the heart of Early Warning for more than three decades. Under Ben’s leadership the business continues to evolve, staying one step ahead of highly dynamic threats while extending capabilities that enable banks, businesses, and consumers to thrive through the prevention of fraud, the reduction of risk, and the enablement of seamless account opening and money movement.
Each year, the business screens $11 trillion in payments, stops $3 billion in potential financial fraud, and helps enable the seamless opening of millions of new bank accounts. Ben and his team also work closely with federal agencies, legislators, regulators, and policy makers to drive public private partnerships that reduce fraud against the federal government and the banking sector.
Ben brings more than two decades of industry experience to Early Warning. He began his banking career at Capital One in 2003, where he became an industry expert in fraud operations through progressively more senior roles. Following his tenure at Capital One, Ben joined Goldman Sachs in 2015 as the Head of Fraud and Business Risk Officer for their consumer savings, lending, and credit card business in the US and UK. In 2018, he moved to Barclays as their Global Head of Fraud with responsibility for consumer, private wealth, commercial, and investment bank fraud across the global bank before joining EWS in 2023.
Prior to entering the financial sector, Ben served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
