mDL Technology Showcase

Mobile driver’s licenses (mDLs) are revolutionizing the way we identify ourselves in the digital age and empowering people to ditch their physical wallets. It’s a secure, contactless and privacy-focused identity credential for age verification, traveling through TSA, driving your car, online transactions and more!

mDLs are available to almost half of the U.S. population and it’s growing every day.

2026 IAF mDL Interoperability Test Event - Tuesday, March 3rd

Ensuring compliance with ISO Standards 18013-5 and 18013-7 is essential to advancing the adoption and global acceptance of Mobile Driver’s Licenses (mDLs). Seamless interoperability between mDL apps, wallets, and verifier solutions is critical to building a trusted and scalable mDL ecosystem.

To accelerate these goals, the Secure Technology Alliance (STA) Identity and Access Forum (IAF) hosted a comprehensive mDL Interoperability Test Event at the March 2026 Identity & Payments Summit in Houston, held alongside the mDL Technology Showcase.

This event followed the STA IAF’s exhaustive cross-testing suite and be formally conducted by IAF member moderators. Testing included state-issued mDL apps and wallets, verifier solutions, and website services, evaluated against targeted relying-party use cases for both in-person and online mDL acceptance.

Benefits for participating in the Interoperability Test Event include:

  • Assessing compliance with ISO 18013-5 and 18013-7 standards
  • Testing against the STA IAF’s exhaustive mDL cross-testing suite
  • Verifying your interoperability with real, state-issued mDLs you may not have encountered before
  • Validating your online use cases with production mDL apps and verifier services
  • Meeting and collaborating with global mDL apps, wallets, issuers, readers, and service providers
  • Receiving non-public statistical results of testing for member analysis; results will be published post-event
